Some good friends of mine gave me an old sheet music book from the 1950s which I thought was cool. On the back was a poem that I thought everyone out here might enjoy as well. Here it is...
PERSISTENCE by Vance Chrysler
With new guitar and eager hands
I sat down to learn to play;
The sounds came forth uncertain
But I practiced every day.
Sometimes it seemed hopeless -
My guitar got out of tune.
Folks told me that Id never learn
And I retreated to my room.
But my guitar went with me
And the practicing went on.
Beyond the door I heard them say,
Well...Maybe...and then they were gone.
The sounds came forth more clearly;
I was spurred to harder things
And I began to reap the peace
That self-made music brings.
Folks then began to listen,
Amazed at what they heard.
They asked me how I did it -
And persistence was my word.
But I kept from them a secret
That was never yet been told -
The sounds came not from my guitar
But from deep within my soul.
There you have it... A cool poem I found by accident about how persistence will eventually pay off. So keep practicing...its worth it!
